About The Position

As a Locum Gastroenterology Physician, you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality patient care, performing diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, and collaborating with our team to manage a diverse range of gastrointestinal conditions. Requirements

Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree from an accredited medical school.
Valid and unrestricted medical license to practice in the state, or eligibility to obtain one prior to start.
Completion of an accredited residency program in Internal Medicine or a related specialty; Gastroenterology fellowship training is a plus.
Board certification or board eligibility in Gastroenterology is preferred.
Strong clinical assessment and diagnostic skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interact compassionately with patients and families.
Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Proficiency with electronic medical records (EMR) systems.
Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to manage a busy patient load.
Commitment to continuous learning and professional development.
Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certifications are required.
Eligibility to work in the United States as a physician, including appropriate visa status if applicable.
Must be able to cover GI emergencies, including advanced/ERCP procedures.

Nice To Haves

Gastroenterology fellowship training is a plus.
Board certification or board eligibility in Gastroenterology is preferred.

Responsibilities

Conduct comprehensive patient evaluations, including medical history reviews and physical examinations for gastrointestinal concerns.
Diagnose and manage a wide range of gastrointestinal conditions, including acid reflux, irritable bowel syndrome, liver disease, and inflammatory bowel disease.
Perform and assist with endoscopic procedures, including colonoscopies and upper endoscopies, under supervision as needed.
Develop and implement individualized treatment plans based on evidence-based medical guidelines.
Order and interpret diagnostic tests such as lab work, imaging studies, and biopsy results.
Document patient encounters accurately and promptly in the electronic medical records (EMR) system.
Collaborate with nurses, specialists, and other healthcare providers to ensure coordinated patient care.
Educate patients and their families on gastrointestinal health, treatment options, and preventive care.
Participate in on-call rotations and provide coverage for inpatient and outpatient consultations as required.
Stay current with the latest advancements in gastroenterology through continuing medical education (CME).
Maintain compliance with all medical, legal, and ethical standards set by the practice and regulatory bodies.
