About The Position
This is a contract, on-site position offering an excellent opportunity for an Associate-level physician to provide high-quality digestive health care within a collaborative clinical environment. As a Locum Gastroenterology Physician, you will deliver comprehensive diagnostic and therapeutic care to patients with a wide range of gastrointestinal conditions. Working alongside a dedicated team of healthcare professionals in the Medical Practice industry, you will play a vital role in enhancing patient outcomes, maintaining continuity of care, and supporting the practice's commitment to clinical excellence.
Requirements
- MD or DO degree from an accredited medical school
- Board certification or eligibility in Gastroenterology
- Valid medical license to practice in North Carolina
- Associate-level experience in gastroenterology clinical practice
- Proficiency in performing endoscopic procedures
- Strong diagnostic and clinical decision-making skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
- Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team
- Commitment to patient-centered care and clinical excellence
- Familiarity with electronic medical record systems
- Willingness to work on-site in Winston-Salem
- Current DEA registration and BLS certification
- Board certification required
- ACLS and BLS required
Responsibilities
- Evaluate, diagnose, and treat patients with acute and chronic gastrointestinal conditions
- Perform endoscopic procedures including upper endoscopy and colonoscopy
- Order and interpret diagnostic tests such as lab work, imaging, and biopsies
- Develop and manage individualized treatment plans for digestive disorders
- Provide consultations for inpatient and outpatient gastrointestinal cases
- Collaborate with primary care physicians, surgeons, and allied health staff
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation in electronic medical records
- Educate patients and families on disease management and preventive care
- Ensure compliance with clinical protocols, safety standards, and regulatory requirements
- Participate in case reviews and quality improvement initiatives
- Manage follow-up care and coordinate referrals when appropriate
- Stay current with advances in gastroenterology and evidence-based practices
