About The Position
This position is responsible for performing a variety of tasks related to the maintenance and care of the district's grounds and landscaping. The Gardener I will assist in the upkeep of lawns, trees, shrubs, and other plants, ensuring a safe and aesthetically pleasing environment. This role involves operating grounds maintenance equipment and adhering to established horticultural practices.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- One year of experience in grounds maintenance or landscaping.
- Valid Nevada Driver's License.
- Ability to operate grounds maintenance equipment.
- Knowledge of horticultural practices.
- Ability to perform physical labor, including lifting up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
Nice To Haves
- Experience with irrigation systems.
- Knowledge of pest and disease identification and control.
Responsibilities
- Perform routine grounds maintenance, including mowing, edging, weeding, and watering lawns, trees, shrubs, and other plants.
- Operate and maintain grounds maintenance equipment such as mowers, trimmers, blowers, and hand tools.
- Plant flowers, shrubs, and trees according to landscape plans.
- Apply fertilizers, pesticides, and herbicides as needed, following safety guidelines.
- Prune and trim trees and shrubs to maintain shape and health.
- Assist in the installation and repair of irrigation systems.
- Remove litter and debris from grounds.
- Report any maintenance issues or concerns to the supervisor.
- Follow safety procedures and maintain a clean and organized work area.
