About The Position

This position is responsible for performing a variety of tasks related to the maintenance and care of the district’s grounds and landscaping. The Gardener I will perform manual labor and operate equipment to ensure the grounds are well-maintained, safe, and aesthetically pleasing. This role involves working outdoors in various weather conditions and requires physical stamina and attention to detail.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED equivalent.
One year of experience in landscaping or grounds maintenance.
Valid driver's license.
Ability to operate landscaping equipment.
Knowledge of basic horticultural practices.
Ability to perform heavy manual labor in outdoor conditions.
Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.

Nice To Haves

Possession of a valid Pesticide Applicator's License.
Experience with irrigation systems.

Responsibilities

Perform manual labor to maintain and care for district grounds and landscaping.
Operate and maintain landscaping equipment such as mowers, trimmers, blowers, and edgers.
Plant, water, fertilize, and prune trees, shrubs, flowers, and lawns.
Apply pesticides and herbicides as needed, following safety protocols.
Rake leaves, remove debris, and keep grounds clean and orderly.
Assist with irrigation system maintenance and repair.
Operate vehicles for transporting tools, equipment, and materials.
Follow safety procedures and guidelines in the performance of duties.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
