About The Position

This position is responsible for performing a variety of tasks related to the maintenance and care of the district’s grounds and landscaping. The Gardener I will perform manual labor and operate equipment to ensure the grounds are well-maintained, safe, and aesthetically pleasing. This role requires attention to detail and the ability to follow instructions for various landscaping tasks.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED equivalent.
Valid Nevada Driver’s License.
Ability to operate landscaping equipment safely and effectively.
Knowledge of basic horticultural practices.
Ability to perform strenuous physical labor in various weather conditions.
Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
Must be able to lift and move up to 50 pounds.

Nice To Haves

Previous experience in landscaping or grounds maintenance.
Knowledge of pest and disease identification and control.
Basic understanding of irrigation systems.

Responsibilities

Perform manual labor in the planting, cultivating, watering, and care of trees, shrubs, flowers, and lawns.
Operate and maintain landscaping equipment such as mowers, trimmers, blowers, and edgers.
Apply fertilizers, pesticides, and herbicides as directed, following safety protocols.
Prune trees and shrubs to maintain shape and health.
Rake leaves, remove debris, and keep grounds clean and orderly.
Assist with irrigation system maintenance and repair.
Identify and report potential issues with plants, equipment, or grounds to supervisor.
Follow safety procedures and guidelines for all tasks.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
