About The Position

The Garden Center Merchandiser represents Costa Farms in retail garden centers around San Antonio, Bulverde, Boerne, and Kerrville, Texas. The role maintains brand standards and product presentation, cares for and replenishes products, tracks inventory, and helps ensure a positive experience for store personnel and consumers. Merchandisers work independently across assigned retail locations and may also collaborate with team members as needed. The position is hands-on and physically active in outdoor or semi-covered retail garden centers, with exposure to varying weather conditions. It involves frequent standing, walking, bending, lifting, pushing racks, and reaching. Team members need reliable transportation because assignments may cover multiple locations. Schedules may change to meet business needs and can include additional hours, weekends, nights, and holidays.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
Previous retail, merchandising, or garden center experience is preferred.
Basic knowledge of plant care is a plus.
Must be work-authorized; Costa Farms will not sponsor a visa for this position.
Able to lift and move plant products or displays weighing up to 50 pounds safely.
Able to perform physically demanding work, including lifting, bending, reaching, and standing for long periods, and work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
Reliable transportation is necessary for travel between assigned retail locations.
Able to work independently, manage time effectively, and meet merchandising and operational expectations.
Able to use a smartphone or tablet for company reporting platforms.
Dependable and punctual, with consistent attendance and follow-through.
Able to adapt to changing weather, seasonal product changes, and shifting schedules.

Responsibilities

Keep Costa Farms and/or third-party products neatly displayed, fully stocked, and visually appealing.
Follow Costa Farms merchandising standards and planograms across stores.
Rotate inventory according to freshness and product lifecycle.
Provide professional, courteous customer service to stores and store personnel.
Adjust availability and schedules to business needs, including seasonal demand and additional hours outside the regular schedule.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams and provide assistance as required.
Follow safety standards and encourage other Costa Farms employees to do the same.
Merchandise products productively and accurately, and carry out tasks as directed by team members.
Learn quickly and continually improve execution and productivity.
Complete surveys and Go Spot Check missions accurately and promptly.
Track and report inventory levels using designated systems.
Arrive at assigned locations to meet with the team as needed and consistently complete the assigned schedule.
Prepare stores for tours, meetings, and other events as required.
Build and maintain respectful relationships with store personnel.
Treat consumers in a cheerful, helpful, and friendly manner.
Perform additional duties as required.
Manage daily tasks and time independently across locations.
Communicate inventory updates, issues, and store needs to associates, supervisors, and internal teams.
Identify and address issues such as damaged products, inventory discrepancies, and display adjustments with minimal supervision.
Use a smartphone or tablet to submit reports, photos, and updates through company platforms.
