About The Position

The Garden Center Merchandiser represents Costa Farms at retail garden centers, maintaining brand standards, product presentation, inventory accuracy, and a positive customer experience. The role involves caring for, displaying, replenishing, and merchandising Costa Farms and third-party products at retail locations around Portland, Troutdale, and The Dalles, Oregon. Team members work independently across assigned locations and collaborate with store personnel and Costa Farms teams to meet merchandising and operational expectations. This is a physically active, hands-on position in outdoor or semi-covered retail garden centers, exposed to changing weather conditions. It requires frequent standing, walking, bending, lifting, pushing racks, and reaching, as well as safely moving plant products or displays. A reliable mode of transportation is necessary for travel among locations in the assigned territory. The role may require schedule changes, additional hours, and work on weekends, nights, or holidays based on business needs.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
All applicants must be authorized to work; Costa Farms will not sponsor a visa for this position.
Reliable mode of transportation for travel among multiple retail locations in an assigned territory.
Ability to use a smartphone or tablet to submit reports, photos, and updates through company platforms.
Ability to safely lift and move plant products or displays up to 50 pounds.
Ability to perform physically demanding work, including frequent standing, walking, bending, lifting, pushing racks, and reaching, and to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
Dependability, punctuality, consistent attendance, and follow-through on responsibilities.
Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time independently across multiple locations.
Ability to communicate clearly with store associates, supervisors, and internal teams and report inventory updates, issues, or store needs promptly.
Ability to identify and address issues such as damaged products, inventory discrepancies, or display adjustments with minimal supervision.
Ability to adapt to changing weather, seasonal product changes, and shifting schedules.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively.

Nice To Haves

Previous retail, merchandising, or garden center experience preferred.
Basic knowledge of plant care is a plus.

Responsibilities

Keep Costa Farms and third-party products neatly displayed, fully stocked, and visually appealing.
Follow Costa Farms merchandising standards and planograms across stores.
Rotate inventory according to freshness and product lifecycle.
Provide professional, respectful service to stores and store personnel.
Adjust availability to business needs, including seasonal demand and additional hours outside the regular schedule, such as weekends, nights, and holidays.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather information or provide assistance as needed.
Follow safety standards in stores and expect the same of other Costa Farms employees.
Maintain high productivity and accuracy while merchandising products.
Execute tasks as directed by team members and work to improve execution and productivity.
Complete surveys and Go Spot Check missions accurately and promptly.
Track and report inventory levels using designated systems.
Arrive at assigned locations to meet with the team as needed and consistently complete the assigned schedule.
Prepare stores for tours, meetings, and other events as required.
Build and maintain respectful relationships with store personnel.
Treat consumers in a cheerful, helpful, and friendly manner.
Perform additional duties as required.
