About The Position

Door Works is looking for a Garage Door Sales & Service Technician to join their growing team in Elmwood Park, NJ. This unique role combines hands-on garage door service with consultative, in-home sales. The technician will diagnose issues, educate homeowners, recommend the right solutions, and complete quality repairs while building lasting customer relationships. The earning potential is directly tied to performance.

Requirements

• Minimum 1 year of sales experience (consultative, in-home, retail, or outside sales preferred).
• Mechanical aptitude with experience using hand and power tools.
• Strong communication and customer service skills.
• Ability to lift 75+ pounds, climb ladders, and work safely in a physically active environment.
• Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
• High school diploma or equivalent.

Nice To Haves

• Previous garage door, construction, HVAC, plumbing, electrical, automotive, or other skilled trade experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose, repair, and service residential and light commercial garage door systems, including springs, cables, openers, rollers, tracks, and panels.
• Perform detailed safety inspections and preventative maintenance.
• Present repair and replacement options that best meet each customer's needs and budget.
• Educate homeowners on products, upgrades, and preventative maintenance.
• Provide exceptional customer service while closing sales with honesty and professionalism.
• Document completed work with notes and photos using company technology.
• Maintain a clean, organized service vehicle and safe work environment.
• Work closely with dispatch and teammates to ensure an outstanding customer experience.
