About The Position

FWS Micro Internships are short-term, project-based work assignments completed by a Federal Work Study student with defined deliverables and learning outcomes. These projects are 10 - 40 hours total and are not on-going, operational roles. Selected students will deliver specific outcomes, build professional skills, and support departmental needs in a short-term capacity. The Conference & Event Services department is looking for student support with event projects for July - early August. This is a part-time, hourly position with a compensation of $17.50 per hour. The project is estimated to be between 20-40 hours total, with a maximum of 20 hours per week. The schedule is to be determined by the needs of the department and the student's schedule, within office hours of Monday - Friday, 8 am to 5 pm.

Requirements

  • Have an Accepted Federal Work Study award as part of their 2025-26 Financial Aid award with Columbus State.
  • Be enrolled in SIX or more credit hours in a degree or certificate program.
  • Meet Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) requirements.
  • Have a high school diploma or a certificate of attendance from an accredited secondary school or a certificate of high school equivalence and be exempt from Ohio Revised Code Chapter 4109.
  • Have reliable transportation or other means of getting to work regularly.
  • Students enrolled as Transient, College Credit Plus, Undecided, or otherwise non-degree-seeking are not considered eligible for Student Employment.

Responsibilities

  • Support the planning and execution of upcoming events by assisting with logistics, coordination, and event-day operations.
  • Assist with event planning timelines and checklists.
  • Assist with and coordinate logistics (space, materials).
  • Help promote events (flyers, email outreach).
  • Support setup and breakdown.
  • Track attendance and collect feedback.
