About The Position

The Furniture Pricer prices and cleans furniture to achieve maximum value and maintains and merchandises furniture, mattresses, and appliances on the sales floor. The position reports to the assistant store manager or store manager. The work takes place inside a production and retail environment, with exposure to temperature fluctuations and occasional dust from donations.

Requirements

• Ability to recognize merchandise quality and price merchandise competitively.
• Ability to judge merchandise quality and saleability and determine when to reduce prices.
• Ability to interact effectively with customers and present a positive, courteous company image.
• Ability to write receipts.
• Ability to observe the production process and communicate with the supervisor and team members to keep work moving.
• Ability to work productively as a team member.
• Experience working with a diverse workforce.
• Ability to work with individuals possessing developmental disabilities.
• Good judgment, energy for fast-paced work, and good listening skills.
• Ability to speak, hear, stand, move throughout the store, and frequently lift or move up to 75 pounds using upper-body strength.
• Ability to stand, bend, stoop, and walk constantly, and lift the arms to shoulder height or above.
• Ability to use proper equipment.

Responsibilities

• Set weekly department production targets with the assistant manager and work toward reaching them.
• Maintain the target price per item, using the price grid as a guideline.
• Test appliances, price merchandise, and display donations on the sales floor.
• Keep the furniture area clean and stocked, removing dust, broken items, non-saleable goods, and damaged goods daily.
• Provide customers purchasing furniture with a written receipt for the cashier.
• Assist customers with mattress inquiries.
• Accept donations and provide donors with a receipt for tax purposes.
• Keep the work area clean, allowing 10 minutes before quitting time for sweeping and cleanup.
• Perform other duties and special assignments as directed, including assignments outside the primary area of employment.
