Funeral Attendant
About The Position
The Funeral Attendant supports the funeral team by transporting loved ones into the company's care and assisting during services. The role includes maintaining clean facilities, assisting with funeral services and visitations, driving vehicles, and helping with some legal and administrative matters related to funeral service. Under the supervision of a licensed Funeral Director, the attendant can learn about the industry and work toward a career in death care. The role requires availability for some holidays, evenings, and weekends as needed. The hourly pay range is $15.00 to $17.00.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- At least 1 year of experience in client relations, facilities maintenance, or a related field.
- Strong desire to start a career in mortuary science or end-of-life planning.
- Ability to lift up to 100 pounds.
- Valid state driver's license.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and customer service skills.
- Ability to interact and collaborate effectively with others in a team atmosphere.
- Ability to maintain a high degree of concentration and attention for a continuous period.
- Ability to occasionally stand and walk, and frequently lift or push.
- Availability to work some holidays, evenings, and weekends as needed.
Responsibilities
- Maintain funeral home facilities, including dusting, vacuuming, and cleaning.
- Assist with funeral services and visitations by greeting visitors, coordinating pallbearers, and arranging transportation and parking.
- Transport individuals into the company's care with extreme care.
- Assist with some functions related to coordinating legal and administrative matters associated with funeral service.
- Perform other related functions as assigned.
