About The Position

The Funeral Attendant sets up and assists with viewings, funeral services, memorial services, and transfers of remains from the place of death to the funeral home. The role also performs other tasks associated with funeral and memorial services as assigned by management. The attendant supports the funeral director, helps services run smoothly, welcomes and guides visitors, assists with movement of the casketed deceased and related items, and drives vehicles in the funeral cortege and for other funeral-related activities.

Requirements

• Available to work weekends, evenings, and days on an on-call basis as needed.
• Strong communication skills, compassion, and integrity.
• Detail-oriented, positive, and a team player.
• Ability to safely lift 75 pounds.
• Valid state-issued driver's license with a clear driving record.

Responsibilities

• Set up and assist with viewings, funeral services, and memorial services.
• Transfer remains from the place of death to the funeral home.
• Perform other tasks associated with funeral and memorial services as assigned by management.
• Assist the funeral director with tasks during funerals and visitations to help services run smoothly.
• Maintain a friendly attitude while offering assistance and guidance to people entering the location.
• Assist with moving the casketed deceased and related items into and out of visitation areas, the funeral home, chapel, church, or other service locations.
• Drive the hearse, family limousine, or other vehicles in the funeral cortege and for other funeral-related activities.
