About The Position

The Funeral Attendant sets up and assists with viewings, funeral services, memorial services, transfers of remains from the place of death to the funeral home, and other tasks associated with funeral and memorial services as assigned by management. The attendant supports the funeral director during funerals and visitations, helps ensure services run smoothly, assists people entering the location, moves the casketed deceased and related items, and drives vehicles used in funeral-related activities.

Requirements

• Caring, empathetic, and committed to providing best-in-class customer service.
• Available to work weekends, evenings, and days on an on-call basis as needed.
• Strong communication skills, compassion, and integrity.
• Detail-oriented, positive, and able to work as part of a team.
• Ability to safely lift 75 pounds.
• Valid state-issued driver's license with a clear driving record.

Responsibilities

• Set up and assist with viewings, funeral services, and memorial services.
• Assist with transfers of remains from the place of death to the funeral home.
• Assist the funeral director with tasks during funerals and visitations to help services run smoothly.
• Maintain a friendly attitude while offering assistance and guidance to people entering the location.
• Move the casketed deceased and other related items in and out of visitation areas, the funeral home chapel, churches, and other service locations.
• Drive the hearse, family limousine, or other vehicles in the funeral cortege and for other funeral-related activities.
• Perform other funeral- and memorial-service tasks as assigned by management.
