About The Position

Better Living Health and Community Services has an opening for a Fundraiser. This position is responsible for providing assistance to the Charitable Foundation Team in planning and implementing special events for the organization. This position reports to the Manager, Philanthropy.

Requirements

  • Be between 15 and 30 years of age (inclusive) at the start of employment.
  • Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigrant and Refugee Protection Act.
  • Have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations.
  • Enrolled in a postgraduate degree or diploma program in Fundraising, Event Management or related field.
  • Successfully complete Vulnerable Sector Screening check within one month of employment.
  • Strong communication skills both verbal and written to communicate with volunteers, donors and corporations in a polite friendly manner.
  • Must be able to work in a team environment and be able to work independently.
  • Must be able to multi-task and be detail-oriented.
  • Working knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
  • Extensive working knowledge of social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, etc.).

Responsibilities

  • Provide administrative, logistical and donor relations support to the Charitable Foundation Team.
  • Assist with the organization, planning, promotion and delivery of fundraising events.
  • Supporting the development and implementation of fundraising campaigns, including researching potential donors and sponsors.
  • Working with community groups and local companies to identify and cultivate fundraising opportunities and supporters.
  • Assisting with data collection, analysis, and reporting to track fundraising performance.
  • Assist in keeping social media platforms up to date and support the communications department to research and prepare content.
  • Provide services in keeping with the organization’s Mission, Vision and Beliefs and Resident Declaration of Values.
  • Adhere to the principles and expectations outlined in the Code of Conduct.
  • Adhere to the Personal Health Information Protection Act (PHIPA 2010) as outlined in the organization privacy policies and procedures.
  • Perform the functions of job description in compliance with the Health and Safety practices of the organization and in accordance with the provincial Occupational Health and Safety Act.
  • Participate in the continuous quality improvement activities of the organization in order to advance a culture of quality and support ongoing compliance with CARF Accreditation standards.
