About The Position

Manitoba Possible is seeking an ASL Immersion Assistant for a Canada Summer Job. This role will support the planning and delivery of ASL Immersion programs. The assistant will be involved in day-to-day coordination, classroom setup, registration, and participant support, working collaboratively with staff, instructors, volunteers, and community members to ensure a smooth and welcoming program experience.

Requirements

  • Must be eligible for the Canada Summer Jobs program.
  • High School diploma or an equivalent is required.
  • Ability to communicate in American Sign Language (ASL). Must be comfortable working in a signing-focused space and using ASL as part of daily activities and interactions with staff and clients.
  • Knowledge of Deaf culture and accessibility.
  • Basic computer skills, including using Microsoft Office programs.
  • Organized and able to multi-task.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to work independently and part of a team.
  • Ability to solve problems and adapt to changes quickly.
  • A current satisfactory Criminal Records Check (including Vulnerable Sector Search), Child Abuse Registry Check and Adult Abuse Registry Check as conditions of employment.

Nice To Haves

  • Post-secondary education is an asset but not required.
  • Deaf or Hard of Hearing applicants with lived experience using ASL are strongly encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities

  • Support the planning, organizing, and delivery of ASL Immersion.
  • Prepare and organize learning and program materials.
  • Assist with recruiting instructors and volunteers.
  • Assist with participant registration and basic record keeping.
  • Set up and take down classrooms and learning spaces.
  • Provide excellent customer service during registration and event days.
  • Communicate information to staff, volunteers, and clients as needed.
  • Provide general office support (email and mail, filing, photocopying).
  • Adhere to all Manitoba Possible policies and guidelines.
