About The Position

Xplor Technologies is hiring a Full Stack Software Engineer for its Embedded Payments team. Reporting to the Software Engineering Manager, the engineer will help build and scale a cloud-native payment orchestration platform that processes significant transaction volume across multiple Xplor brands. The role involves owning features across backend services and frontend interfaces, designing scalable systems and user experiences, and collaborating with backend, frontend, QA, and DevOps engineers to deliver quality software. The engineer will work across the software development lifecycle, from API contracts and data models through database and UI implementation. The position also involves producing technical specifications, integrating production-ready systems with observability, supporting quality assurance and deployment controls, maintaining existing functionality and documentation, and participating in deployment planning, on-call rotations, and incident response. The team uses React, Node.js, AWS, PostgreSQL, CI/CD tools, Terraform, and payment providers including Worldpay and Stripe. This is a fully remote, U.S.-based position, excluding Hawaii and Alaska, with a preference for candidates in the Kansas City region. The stated average base salary range is $95,000 to $105,000 per year. Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States; visa sponsorship is not available.

  • Strong Node.js experience and demonstrated ability to ship production backend services.
  • Experience building React-based frontends that consume RESTful APIs.

  • Working knowledge of relational databases, preferably PostgreSQL, and a clear understanding of separation of concerns in service design.
  • Hands-on experience with AWS or a comparable cloud platform.
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines such as Bitbucket Pipelines, GitHub Actions, or similar.
  • Proficiency with Git, agile delivery (Scrum preferred), and testing frameworks such as Jest.
  • Fluency with AI-assisted development tools such as Claude Code, Cursor, or Copilot, and an articulate point of view on their strengths and limitations.
  • Comfort working on a 100% remote team and operating independently within an agile group.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States; the employer does not sponsor visas.

Nice To Haves

  • Exposure to observability tools such as SigNoz, Grafana, or Datadog.
  • Infrastructure-as-code experience with Terraform.

Responsibilities

  • Execute the full software development lifecycle across backend services and frontend interfaces.
  • Design and build well-tested, well-documented features spanning APIs, data models, and user interfaces.
  • Produce technical specifications and assess operational feasibility for new payment features.
  • Integrate components into cohesive, production-ready systems with appropriate observability.
  • Contribute to verification plans, quality assurance procedures, and deployment guardrails.
  • Maintain and improve existing functionality, including documentation.
  • Participate in deployment planning, on-call rotations, and incident response for the payments platform.
  • Use AI-assisted development tools effectively to improve velocity without compromising quality.
  • Stay current with platform updates, security practices, and PCI compliance requirements.
