About The Position

The Frozen Foods Assistant supports the meals program by packing and delivering prepackaged meals to clients, monitoring food temperatures, tracking frozen inventory, and communicating relevant concerns to the nutrition department. The role also involves collecting donations, assisting volunteers and drivers, serving congregate meals at designated sites when necessary, and performing kitchen, packing, and cleaning duties as needed. The position reports duties and route documentation as requested and may train new support staff assigned to the site.

Requirements

Valid Ohio Driver’s License.
Proof of automobile liability insurance.
Familiarity with reading maps and operating a GPS device or cell phone.
Proven record of working cooperatively with others, particularly elderly individuals.
Strong attendance record.
Willingness to work in challenging weather conditions.
Strong organizational skills and ability to work under deadlines.
Experience monitoring food temperatures.
High school diploma or equivalent.
Ability to lift 30 pounds.
Ability to operate a motor vehicle.
Ability to communicate with the agency via cell phone or two-way radio.
Ability to enter clients’ homes and other potentially inaccessible buildings.

Responsibilities

Place the specified number of prepackaged meals into delivery containers.
Document temperatures regularly.
Accurately deliver meals to clients and obtain required signatures as needed.
Collect donations from specified clients.
Communicate with the nutrition department about problems, observations, or questions regarding the meals program or consumers.
Perform kitchen, packing, and cleaning duties as needed.
Track frozen inventory.
Serve congregate meals at specified meal sites in Bucyrus or Galion when necessary.
Sign route sheets returned by volunteer or paid drivers as requested.
Train new support staff assigned to the site as requested.
Assist volunteers with delivery bags.
Perform other duties as assigned by the Nutrition Coordinator.
