About The Position

The Front-End Supervisor oversees daily front-end operations in a grocery store. The role supervises cashier staff, ensures efficient checkout processes, and delivers exceptional customer service. The supervisor works with the Front-End Manager on staffing, cash handling, training, and performance matters, and ensures staff receive breaks. The position also supports a clean, organized, welcoming checkout area and ensures safety, sanitation, and regulatory compliance.

Requirements

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Previous experience in a retail or grocery store environment.
• At least 1–2 years of experience in a supervisory or leadership role.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to remain calm under pressure.
• Proficiency in cash handling and point-of-sale systems.
• Knowledge of basic accounting principles and inventory management practices.
• Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
• Ability to stand for prolonged periods.

Responsibilities

• Oversee cashier activities to ensure efficient and accurate transactions.
• Monitor checkout lines to minimize wait times and support customer satisfaction.
• Address customer inquiries and resolve issues promptly.
• Work with the Front-End Manager to ensure appropriate staffing of checkout lanes.
• Train new cashiers on checkout procedures, customer service standards, and product knowledge.
• Work with the Front-End Manager to address disciplinary issues or performance concerns according to company policies.
• Ensure front-end staff receive breaks.
• Work with the Front-End Manager to manage cash registers, including opening and closing procedures, balancing drawers, and performing cash drops.
• Enforce cash handling policies and security measures to prevent theft or fraud.
• Conduct regular cash audits and reconcile discrepancies.
• Greet customers and provide assistance as needed.
• Resolve customer complaints or escalate issues to the Front-End Manager or Store Leadership as necessary.
• Ensure the checkout area is clean, organized, and welcoming.
• Ensure safety protocols and sanitation standards are followed.
• Ensure compliance with applicable regulations, including food safety guidelines.
