Front Counter Sales
About The Position
Devil Mountain Wholesale Nursery is seeking a customer-focused Front Counter Sales professional to serve as the primary point of contact for walk-in customers and first-time visitors. The role owns the front counter experience by greeting customers, processing transactions, guiding plant selection, and ensuring orders are handled accurately and professionally. It contributes to daily revenue by converting walk-in traffic into completed sales while maintaining strong communication with Yard and Sales teams. Success requires strong plant knowledge, confidence in customer interaction, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple transactions in a fast-paced environment. This is an onsite yard and in-office position in Carmel Valley with no remote option. The schedule is Tuesday through Saturday, 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Compensation is $20.00–$21.00 per hour, depending on experience.
Requirements
- Sales and customer service experience.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Confidence handling live customer transactions.
- Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office and POS systems.
- Ability to manage multiple customers and processes simultaneously.
- Bilingual English/Spanish.

- Inventory system experience.
Responsibilities
- Welcome and engage walk-in customers in a professional and service-driven manner.
- Assess customer needs and guide plant selection.
- Process sales transactions accurately using POS and inventory systems.
- Support will-call check-in and order pickup.
- Provide product availability, specifications, and location guidance.
- Communicate with Yard staff to ensure efficient order fulfillment.
- Support the Sales Team with estimates and order entry as needed.
- Determine wholesale versus non-wholesale status for trade customers.
- Participate in inventory counts and company initiatives.
