About The Position

Lethbridge Collegiate Institute (LCI) is seeking a dynamic and highly skilled French Immersion teacher to deliver Social Studies and/or Science courses at the high school level (Grades 9–12). The successful candidate will demonstrate strong subject knowledge, fluency in French, and a commitment to fostering student success in a second-language learning environment. Lethbridge Collegiate Institute endeavors to provide a safe, supportive and challenging learning environment with a diverse academic program as well as many choices for athletics and fine arts. LCI partners with the University of Lethbridge to offer Dual Credit courses, supporting just over 1550 students. At LCI, the staff strive to maximize individual potential and wherever possible endeavor to link students with community and industry in preparation for life after graduation. Requirements

  • Fluency in French
  • Applicants must possess or be eligible to obtain an Alberta Teaching Certificate.

Responsibilities

  • Teach assigned Social Studies and/or Science courses in French aligned with grade 9-12 provincial curriculum
  • Develop and deliver engaging, student-centered lessons that promote critical thinking, inquiry, and problem-solving
  • Integrate language and content instruction to support French immersion learners
  • Use a variety of formative and summative assessment strategies
  • Create an inclusive and culturally responsive classroom environment
  • Support students in developing both academic and linguistic proficiency
  • Collaborate with colleagues in immersion and non-immersion programs
  • Maintain effective communication with students, parents, and staff (in French and English as appropriate)
  • Participate in school-wide and department initiatives
