About The Position

The Freight Operations Supervisor leads and supervises all aspects of freight operations, directing hourly staff and overseeing the workloads, schedules, procedures, and administrative functions needed to meet production and service goals. The role ensures freight is processed, handled, loaded, and delivered on time and damage free while maintaining safety, quality, regulatory compliance, and network performance. The supervisor coaches and develops employees, communicates policies and corporate messages, addresses workplace concerns, and recommends personnel actions. The position also identifies operational improvements and helps minimize shipment rehandling. The role requires frequent lifting of objects up to 50 pounds and occasional lifting of more than 75 pounds; reaching, bending, climbing, pushing, pulling, twisting, squatting, and kneeling; and extended periods of walking and standing on a loading dock that is not climate controlled. It also involves working outdoors in inclement weather and being available for a variety of shifts, including days, evenings, nights, and weekends. Requirements

At least 2 years of related work experience in a warehouse, distribution, supply chain, transportation, or similar environment.
Knowledge of the Less-than-Truckload (LTL) industry, hazardous materials regulations, and DOT rules and regulations.
Availability to work a variety of shifts, including days, evenings, nights, and weekends.
Ability to frequently lift objects of various shapes, sizes, and weights up to 50 pounds and occasionally more than 75 pounds.
Ability to reach (including above the head), bend, climb, push, pull, twist, squat, and kneel.
Ability to walk and stand for extended periods on a loading dock that is not climate controlled.
Ability to work outside in inclement weather.
Authorization to work in the United States without current or future employer sponsorship.

Nice To Haves

Responsibilities

Lead and supervise all aspects of freight operations.
Develop and implement strategic work procedures to meet the department’s evolving demands.
Evaluate, manage, assign, and supervise workloads and tasks.
Supervise hourly staff across operations and serve as the primary contact for workplace concerns and questions.
Manage tonnage, payroll, and other administrative functions to meet production goals.
Plan hourly employee schedules to meet daily operational goals and lower costs.
Enforce company, FMCSR, OSHA, CCMTA, NSC, and DOT policies, rules, regulations, and laws.
Implement workplace policies and procedures and enforce compliance to optimize network performance.
Ensure customer freight is processed, handled, loaded, and delivered on time and damage free.
Coach and develop employees on proper techniques and quality requirements; conduct new-hire evaluations and determine whether corrective action is warranted for policy violations.
Direct the team to consistently meet or exceed productivity goals.
Make recommendations regarding hiring, suspension, and termination.
Develop and present action plans to improve load average and model compliance.
Participate in internal safety and engagement committees.
Train employees on safety rules and processes.
Monitor and maintain shift organization to ensure safety and productivity.
Conduct daily staff meetings and communicate corporate messages and policy or procedure revisions to team members.
Inspect workplace tools and equipment for safe operating conditions and direct correction of improper or adverse conditions.
Provide instruction, analyses, suggestions, and ideas to improve shift and service-center operations.
Demonstrate XPO values and hold the team to the same standards.
Minimize shipment rehandling across the network by prioritizing direct loading, headloads, and sector loading while maintaining quality standards.
