About The Position

Allen Lund Company is seeking Transportation Brokers to manage incoming and outgoing shipping logistics for cargo transportation carriers and shipping companies. The role involves acquiring customers, developing profitable relationships with shippers, building carrier capacity, negotiating rates, and providing customer service. Brokers also handle freight brokerage and load booking, perform daily check calls on loads in transit, address customer issues and inquiries, and prepare documentation for freight bills. The position operates in a fast-paced, challenging, team-oriented environment and follows the company principles of Customer, Company, Office.

Requirements

• At least 3 years of experience in freight brokerage or customer service.
• Self-motivated, enthusiastic team player able to excel in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong customer service orientation and excellent work ethic.
• Effective negotiation and problem-solving skills, including the ability to handle conflict.
• Excellent time-management skills and ability to multitask.
• Highly organized and detail-oriented.
• Ability to process information quickly, make decisions, and work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent and effective communication skills.

Nice To Haves

• College degree is highly desired, or equivalent experience.

Responsibilities

• Contact new customers and acquire new business.
• Develop profitable volume with existing and newly acquired shippers and build relationships with developing accounts.
• Understand customers’ businesses to qualify their needs and identify and solve problems.
• Deliver exceptional customer service.
• Build relationships with carriers to increase capacity for specific projects and lanes.
• Stay informed about market freight rates to determine fair pricing for trucks and shippers.
• Offer rates established by Senior Transportation Brokers and management, and negotiate as market demands.
• Recommend solutions for customers to Senior Transportation Brokers and/or management.
• Perform daily check calls on loads in transit and prepare necessary freight-bill documentation.
• Handle freight brokerage and book loads.
• Uphold company standards and principles of Customer, Company, Office.
