About The Position

Sandstone is hiring a Founding Product Manager to help build a platform that serves as a single pane of glass for in-house legal teams’ legal work and institutional knowledge. The role will own a product vertical and contribute to the product leadership team, shaping the product roadmap, product practices, and culture. The Product Manager will work in an early-stage environment with significant autonomy alongside engineering, design, legal, and go-to-market colleagues. The role may also include leading enterprise customer deployments and/or integrations. The position focuses on understanding real user workflows, conducting user experience research, improving cross-functional communication, scoping work, and mitigating risks. The Product Manager will partner with AI and machine learning engineers to define and measure the quality of agentic workflows, including accuracy, reliability, latency, and appropriate human oversight. The role involves engaging with General Counsels, legal operations leaders, and day-to-day users, as well as participating in sales and post-sales calls to inform product priorities. Sandstone works five days a week from its Lower East Side office in New York City. The company describes its culture as collaborative, detail-oriented, and focused on shipping quickly and continuously.

Requirements

  • At least 6 years of product management experience.
  • A track record of shipping 0-to-1 products and scaling them, with demonstrable outcomes.
  • Ability to earn the trust of strong engineers by being useful, making sound judgments, and recognizing when involvement is unnecessary.
  • Comfort managing complex systems, mapping complex workflows, and translating them into simple products.
  • Demonstrated entrepreneurship or success in an unstructured environment; a hungry, low-ego, and generative approach.
  • Empathy for customers and emotional intelligence to understand what would feel natural to them.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience at an early-stage, high-growth startup, ideally one the candidate helped scale through a significant growth step.
  • Experience in legal technology, legal operations, or building products for in-house legal teams.
  • Technical ability to prototype, read a pull request, or evaluate an approach with engineering before it becomes a specification.

Responsibilities

  • Own the product roadmap for a product vertical, decide what to build, prioritize, and ship continuously.
  • Set feature timelines and team goals, scope features thoughtfully, and mitigate risks where practicable.
  • Help shape the product roadmap and determine how Product prioritizes, documents decisions, and makes choices.
  • Choose when to move quickly on reversible decisions and when to map scenarios, test options, and clarify tradeoffs for irreversible decisions.
  • Partner with AI and machine learning engineers to define and measure agentic workflow quality, including accuracy, reliability, latency, and human involvement.
  • Spend time with General Counsels, legal operations leaders, and end users; attend sales and post-sales calls; and translate observations into product priorities.
  • Coordinate closely with Engineering, Design, Forward-Deployed Engineers, and go-to-market teams.
  • Help develop Sandstone’s product culture, processes, and systems.

Benefits

  • Comprehensive health, dental, and vision insurance.
  • Health savings account available depending on plan selection.
  • 401(k).

  • Flexible time off with 20+ days of paid time off.
  • Annual learning and development stipend.
  • Technology stipend, including unlimited spending on AI tooling.
  • Daily lunch for in-office team members.
  • Equity offered.
