About The Position

Wafer is seeking its founding growth hire to work directly with the founders and GTM lead to build Wafer's marketing function and accelerate company growth. This is a broad role with ownership over how Wafer presents itself, executing marketing tasks across brand, content, social media, product launches, communications, events, customer stories, and distribution. Responsibilities will vary weekly, from launching engineering results and writing social posts to organizing industry events and developing customer case studies. The ideal candidate can take an incomplete idea and develop it into a clear strategy and finished work.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience in marketing, growth, communications, content, community, or a similar broad role (quality of work is prioritized over exact years).
  • Experience in an early-stage environment where strategy, process, and assets were not pre-established.
  • Exceptional writing skills with a portfolio of personally created work.
  • Ability to transition seamlessly between strategy, creative work, project management, and execution.
  • Curiosity to learn about AI infrastructure, including models, inference, latency, throughput, and GPU infrastructure.
  • Strong aesthetic judgment to discern high-quality messaging, content, and events.
  • Proactive, organized, and comfortable working directly with founders, engineers, customers, and external partners.
  • Ability to use data to inform judgment without solely focusing on metrics like impressions or raw leads.
  • Desire to work closely with a small team in person in San Francisco.

Responsibilities

  • Define Wafer's marketing strategy, target audiences, narrative, priorities, and operating calendar, ensuring technical differentiation is communicated clearly.
  • Develop Wafer's brand voice and visual identity, creating content for the website, X, LinkedIn, newsletters, video, and other formats.
  • Translate founders' ideas, technical work, and market observations into distinctive social media posts, essays, and commentary.
  • Plan and execute announcements for products, models, partnerships, research, and company news across various channels including owned media, communities, press, podcasts, and partners.
  • Manage Wafer's presence at conferences, dinners, meetups, workshops, and developer events, from conception to execution and follow-up.
  • Collaborate with engineers and customers to produce case studies, technical articles, benchmark narratives, videos, and sales materials.
  • Maintain the website, create campaign and launch pages, and distribute content through social media, email, communities, events, partners, and targeted programs.
  • Establish a performance scorecard, evaluate marketing program effectiveness, and implement efficient workflows using AI, automation, contractors, and software.
