About The Position

Wafer is seeking its founding growth hire to work directly with its founders and GTM lead to build the company's marketing function and accelerate growth. This is a broad role with ownership over how Wafer presents itself, executing marketing work across brand, content, social media, product launches, communications, events, customer stories, and distribution. The role involves taking incomplete ideas or technical results and transforming them into clear strategies and finished work. Responsibilities include defining marketing strategy and positioning, developing brand and content, managing founder-led social media, planning and executing launches and communications, owning event strategy, creating technical and customer stories, maintaining the website, and establishing measurement and operations using AI and automation where appropriate.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience across marketing, growth, communications, content, community, or a similarly broad role (quality of work matters more than the exact number of years).
  • Experience in an early-stage environment where strategy, process, and assets were not already built.
  • Exceptional writing ability with demonstrable personal work.
  • Ability to move comfortably between strategy, creative work, project management, and execution.
  • Curiosity to learn about models, inference, latency, throughput, and GPU infrastructure.
  • Strong taste and judgment for quality in messaging, content, and events.
  • Proactive, organized, and comfortable working directly with founders, engineers, customers, and external partners.
  • Use data to improve judgment without reducing marketing to basic metrics.
  • Desire to work closely with a small team in person in San Francisco.

Responsibilities

  • Help define Wafer's marketing strategy, audiences, narrative, priorities, and operating calendar.
  • Develop Wafer's voice and visual direction.
  • Create strong content for the website, X, LinkedIn, newsletters, video, and other relevant formats.
  • Turn founders' ideas, technical work, and market observations into distinctive posts, essays, and commentary.
  • Plan and execute product, model, partnership, research, and company announcements across owned channels, communities, press, podcasts, and partners.
  • Own our approach to conferences, dinners, meetups, workshops, and developer events, from concept and audience selection through execution and follow-up.
  • Work with engineers and customers to produce accurate case studies, technical articles, benchmark narratives, videos, and sales materials.
  • Keep the website current, create campaign and launch pages, and distribute our work through social, email, communities, events, partners, and targeted programs.
  • Establish a practical scorecard, evaluate what is working, and build lightweight workflows using AI, automation, contractors, and software where appropriate.
