About The Position

Ajax is hiring a Founding Forward Deployed Engineer to extend its data-capture mechanism to solve previously intractable technical problems for large law firms. The role combines customer discovery, prototyping, and turning successful prototypes into paid products. It is product-engineering focused: the engineer will build new features, work directly with customers, and develop solutions that can scale. In the first 30 days, the engineer is expected to build a billing-system integration to open a new segment of the legal market. By day 60, the engineer is expected to ship a meaningful customer-facing feature, informed by customer relationships and an understanding of law-firm operations. Potential projects include a client-management page or an iOS application. By day 90, the engineer will work with larger law firms, strengthen customer relationships, and help determine what to build next. Ajax builds AI products that capture law firms’ institutional knowledge and help them deliver legal services more efficiently. Its existing AI timekeeping product tracks attorneys’ work and drafts billable-time entries. The company has over 250 paying law firms, thousands of users, and a 16-person team. The role is generally based in person five days a week in FiDi, New York City, with flexibility to work remotely in some circumstances. Compensation is $210,000–$270,000 base salary plus 0.25%–0.75% equity. Offers may be above, but not below, the stated range.
