About The Position

A seed-stage applied AI startup is automating consumer debt collection with AI agents. The company’s platform supports late-stage recovery processes, including asset research, pre-legal outreach, litigation, credit reporting, and enforcement actions. The role combines hands-on software engineering with direct customer work and offers a highly visible, high-ownership opportunity, working closely with clients from day one and reporting directly to the founder. The engineer will translate ambiguous business requirements into technical specifications, deliver working solutions quickly, and build internal tools that make future client implementations faster and more repeatable.

Requirements

Strong engineering background in full-stack JavaScript and TypeScript.
Have shipped real production products at an early-stage startup, or built meaningful side projects or started a company.
Strong communication skills, including presenting technical work simply, building trust with customers and executives, and driving decisions in the room.
Native English speaker from the US or Canada.
Prompt engineering experience.

Nice To Haves

Prior experience in forward-deployed engineering, solutions engineering, or another technical customer-facing role.
Experience building or configuring AI agents, LLM-based workflows, or production prompt engineering.
Background in fintech, collections, or another regulated financial services domain.
Experience at an early-stage startup with high ownership expectations.

Responsibilities

Build and maintain custom integrations with client systems.
Configure and productionize AI agents for each client, from prompt design through workflows and data transfers.
Develop and ship client solutions using modern back-end frameworks.
Translate ambiguous customer requirements into clear technical specifications and working software.
Build internal tools that make future implementations faster and more repeatable.
