About The Position

Citi is seeking a highly motivated and innovative Forward Deployed Engineer to support its AI transformation. The role partners with business process owners and technology leaders to reimagine and re-engineer core business processes, define principled approaches to agentic solution design, and create reference solutions that use AI to improve efficiency and innovation. The engineer leverages Citi’s AI capabilities, including AI agents, and helps drive adoption of reference solutions across business contexts while developing future experts to support sustainable and scalable AI capabilities.

The position combines hands-on technical work, business analysis, and communication. It involves analyzing processes and pain points, identifying opportunities for AI-driven automation, designing and prototyping solutions, and helping business users and engineering teams align on requirements. The role also measures initiative effectiveness and ROI, documents new AI-enabled processes, and trains and supports users.

The position is based in Tampa, Florida. The posted full-time salary range is $141,440 to $212,160. Eligible employees may also receive incentive and retention awards. Requirements

• 3–5+ years of experience in a hands-on technical role such as software engineering, data science, or machine learning engineering.
• Deep hands-on experience with large language models and AI agents.
• Knowledge of core supervised and unsupervised machine learning concepts, natural language processing, and data modeling.
• Ability to understand business challenges and translate them into technical requirements and solutions.
• Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to explain complex technical concepts to nontechnical audiences.
• Proactive, analytical problem-solving approach and a track record of delivering innovative solutions.
• Bachelor’s degree, university degree, or equivalent experience.

Nice To Haves

• Prior experience in a forward-deployed, consulting, or client-facing technical role.
• Hands-on experience with AWS, Google Cloud, or Azure and associated AI/ML services such as SageMaker, Vertex AI, or Azure ML.
• Familiarity with data engineering principles, including ETL/ELT processes, data warehousing, and working with large datasets.
• Knowledge of a business domain such as payments, finance, or operations in financial services firms.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with business stakeholders to analyze existing processes, workflows, and pain points, and prioritize opportunities for AI impact.
• Design and rapidly prototype AI-powered solutions, including proof-of-concepts and, where appropriate, minimum viable products.
• Translate between nontechnical business users and engineering teams to clarify requirements and ensure solutions are fit for purpose.
• Maintain knowledge of developments and best practices in AI, machine learning, natural language processing, and generative AI.
• Define key performance indicators to measure the effectiveness and return on investment of AI initiatives.
• Contribute to documentation for AI-driven processes and provide training and support to business users.
• Drive adoption of reference solutions across business contexts and apprentice future experts to support sustainable, scalable AI capabilities.
