Forward Deployed Engineer, AI Transformation -Senior Vice President
About The Position
Citi is seeking a highly motivated and innovative Forward Deployed Engineer to help lead its AI transformation. The role partners directly with business process owners and technology leaders to reimagine and re-engineer core business processes, define principled approaches to agentic solution design, and create reference solutions using artificial intelligence. The engineer serves as a bridge between business needs and technical solutions, identifying opportunities for AI-driven automation and bringing those solutions to life using Citi’s AI capabilities, including its growing set of AI agents. The role also drives adoption of reference solutions across business contexts and apprentices future experts to support the sustainability and scalability of Citi’s AI capabilities. It involves analyzing workflows and pain points, designing and prototyping AI-powered solutions, translating requirements between business users and engineering teams, tracking the effectiveness of initiatives, and supporting user adoption through documentation and training.
Requirements
- 3–5+ years of experience in a hands-on technical role such as software engineering, data science, or machine learning engineering.
- Deep hands-on experience with large language models and AI agents.
- Knowledge of supervised and unsupervised machine learning, natural language processing, and data modeling.
- Ability to understand business challenges and translate them into technical requirements and solutions.
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
- Proactive, analytical problem-solving approach and a track record of delivering innovative solutions.
- Bachelor’s degree, university degree, or equivalent experience.
Nice To Haves
- Experience in a forward deployed, consulting, or client-facing technical role.
- Hands-on experience with AWS, Google Cloud, or Azure and related AI/ML services such as SageMaker, Vertex AI, or Azure ML.
- Familiarity with data engineering principles, including ETL/ELT processes, data warehousing, and large datasets.
- Knowledge of a business domain such as payments or finance and operations in financial services.
Responsibilities
- Work with business stakeholders to analyze processes, workflows, and pain points and prioritize opportunities for AI.
- Design and rapidly prototype AI-powered solutions, including proof-of-concepts and, where appropriate, minimum viable products.
- Translate between non-technical business users and engineering teams so requirements are understood and solutions meet business needs.
- Maintain knowledge of evolving AI tools, techniques, and practices, including machine learning, natural language processing, and generative AI.
- Define key performance indicators to measure the effectiveness and return on investment of AI initiatives.
- Help create documentation for AI-driven processes and provide training and support to business users.
- Drive adoption of reference solutions across business contexts and help develop future AI practitioners.
