About The Position

The Forklift/Palletizer Operator performs daily equipment start-up and shut-down tasks, operates machinery, keeps machines supplied with necessary materials, and stacks, tracks, and tags pallets. The role also transports, loads, and unloads product pallets from trailers; performs minor mechanical adjustments and preventative maintenance; conducts sensory evaluations of products and ingredients; and completes required paperwork. Other duties may be assigned.

Requirements

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Demonstrate excellent work habits in line with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs).
• Demonstrate safe work habits.
• Be able to obtain a forklift license and operate a forklift.
• Be able to lift in excess of 50 pounds frequently.
• Have excellent attendance and punctuality.
• Be able to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Have good human relation skills and the ability to work well with others as a team member.
• Be able to work any shift, nights, weekends, holidays, and extended hours.
• Be able to perform steady and productive work for an extended period of time.
• Use creative thinking for troubleshooting.
• Have basic mechanical skills.
• Be able to work efficiently with little or no supervision.
• Possess basic math skills.
• Be able to communicate effectively.
• Show enthusiasm, initiative, and pride in work, and a commitment to Publix and its mission.
• Have general knowledge of machine operation and touch-screen control systems.

Responsibilities

• Perform daily start-up and shut-down tasks.
• Stack product when necessary.
• Track and tag pallets.
• Operate equipment.
• Keep machines supplied with necessary materials.
• Transport, load, and unload product pallets from trailers.
• Perform minor mechanical adjustments and preventative maintenance on equipment.
• Perform sensory evaluations on products and ingredients.
• Complete all necessary paperwork required by the position.
• Assist other team members in other areas as needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
