Forklift Operator - Part-Time
About The Position
XPO is hiring a part-time Forklift Operator to sort, handle, load, and unload freight on a dock. The role uses motorized and manual equipment, including a pallet jack and forklift, and mobile handheld devices to scan and track shipments. Operators secure freight inside trailers and follow company safety policies while working efficiently. The dock is not climate-controlled, and the position involves extended periods of standing and walking as well as physically demanding tasks. The expected pay range is $23.43 to $28.81 per hour, with pay on an annual step progression; actual compensation may vary based on experience and skill set. Competitive and comprehensive benefits options are available to employees scheduled to work 30 hours or more per week. This is a Motor Carrier Act Exempt position. Applicants receiving a conditional offer may be required to take and pass a pre-employment drug test.
Requirements
- Be at least 18 years of age.
- Be able to perform basic math calculations, with and without a calculator.
- Be available to work a variety of shifts due to varying freight volumes, including days, evenings, nights, and weekends.
- Lift freight and other objects of various shapes, sizes, and weights, frequently up to 50 pounds and occasionally more than 70 pounds.
- Safely walk and stand for extended periods on a loading dock that is not climate-controlled and may be slippery.
- Reach, including above the head; bend; climb; push; pull; twist; squat; and kneel as necessary.
Nice To Haves
- Dock or warehouse experience in the transportation industry.
- Forklift experience in a freight or less-than-truckload (LTL) environment.
- Experience loading and unloading trailers.
- Strong attention to detail and a desire to succeed.
