About The Position

XPO is hiring a part-time Forklift Operator. The role involves sorting, handling, loading and unloading freight using motorized and manual equipment, securing freight inside trailers, and scanning and tracking shipments with mobile handheld devices. Operators work on a loading dock that is not climate-controlled and must follow company safety policies. The position pays $22.27 per hour and is on the afternoon shift. Competitive and comprehensive benefits options are available to employees scheduled to work 30 hours or more per week. This is a Motor Carrier Act Exempt position. Applicants who receive a conditional offer may be required to pass a pre-employment drug test.

Requirements

• Be at least 18 years of age.
• Be able to perform basic math calculations, with and without a calculator.
• Be available to work a variety of shifts due to varying freight volumes, including days, evenings, nights and weekends.
• Be able to lift freight and other objects of various shapes, sizes and weights, frequently up to 50 pounds and occasionally more than 70 pounds.
• Be able to walk and stand safely for extended periods on a loading dock that is not climate-controlled and may be slippery.
• Be able to reach, including above the head, bend, climb, push, pull, twist, squat and kneel as necessary.

Nice To Haves

• Dock or warehouse experience in the transportation industry.
• Forklift experience in a freight or less-than-truckload (LTL) environment.
• Experience loading and unloading trailers.
• Strong attention to detail and a desire to succeed.

Responsibilities

• Efficiently sort, handle, load and unload palletized and non-palletized freight.
• Use appropriate motorized and manual equipment, including a pallet jack and forklift.
• Secure freight inside trailers using appropriate tools and supplies.
• Work safely and efficiently while adhering to company safety policies.
• Use mobile handheld devices to scan and track shipments.
• Work for extended periods on a loading dock that is not climate-controlled.
