About The Position

Whirlwind Steel, a metal building manufacturer, is seeking a skilled Forklift Operator with experience moving long pieces and using overhead cranes for loading and unloading. Materials may be up to 50 feet long and weigh up to 2 tons. The role supports efficient, safe movement of materials and products in a fast-paced warehouse or manufacturing environment.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Proven experience as a forklift operator, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
• Experience operating overhead cranes, including loading and unloading heavy materials.
• Attention to detail and ability to follow instructions accurately.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and work well under pressure.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Flexibility to work occasional overtime or weekends as needed to meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Operate a forklift to transport materials within the warehouse or manufacturing facility.
• Use an overhead crane to safely load and unload materials and products, positioning and securing loads properly.
• Follow safety protocols and procedures, including wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Perform pre-operational checks of the forklift and overhead crane.
• Keep work areas clean and orderly, and organize materials for efficient storage and retrieval.
• Communicate with team members and supervisors to coordinate workflow and prioritize tasks.
