About The Position

Whirlwind Steel is a metal building manufacturer that designs, fabricates, and delivers metal structures. The Forklift Operator/Material Handler moves materials and products safely and efficiently within the warehouse or manufacturing facility. The role involves handling long pieces up to 50 feet in length and loads weighing up to 2 tons, using forklifts and overhead cranes in a fast-paced environment. The position requires attention to detail, safety-conscious work practices, and effective coordination with team members and supervisors. Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
Proven experience as a forklift operator, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
Experience operating overhead cranes, including loading and unloading heavy materials.
Attention to detail and ability to follow instructions accurately.
Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and work well under pressure.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to work occasional overtime or weekends as needed to meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

Operate a forklift to transport materials within the warehouse or manufacturing facility.
Use an overhead crane to load and unload materials and products, positioning and securing loads safely.
Follow safety protocols and material-handling procedures, including wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
Perform pre-operational checks on forklifts and overhead cranes to confirm they are in good working condition.
Keep work areas clean and orderly, and organize materials for efficient storage and retrieval.
Communicate with team members and supervisors to coordinate workflow and prioritize tasks.
