The Food Transporter/Delivery Driver delivers food, supplies, and other products to units and areas of service using a vehicle. The role is part-time, scheduled Monday through Friday, with hours that may vary according to the school calendar. Work may pause during winter and summer breaks when food-service needs decline or cease; these periods may be unpaid temporary layoffs. Depending on business needs, the employee may be required to work year-round, potentially at a different location during breaks. The driver picks up requisitioned supplies and completed production orders from the staging clerk, checks orders for completeness, loads them safely with assistance, and unloads materials at delivery sites. The role includes following sanitation and safety standards, maintaining the required temperatures and safe handling of food, collecting empty containers and rejected or unsold merchandise, keeping the assigned vehicle clean, and performing routine truck maintenance. The driver also works with coworkers to meet service standards and provides attentive customer service.
