About The Position

The Food Services ERP Student Analyst provides students with a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience implementing an Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) Dining Management System within a real campus dining operation. The student will work directly with Food Services leadership and vendor consultant specialists to help modernize operations, streamline procurement and inventory processes, and support data-driven decision making.

  • Advanced Work Experience (Capstone) - Designed for students with substantial experience and advanced skills, such as multiple internships, leadership roles, or specialized training.
  • Best suited for upper-level juniors or seniors with strong practical experience and expertise in their field.
  • Students interested in careers in Information Systems, Business Management, Supply Chain Management, Hospitality / Food Service Operations, Data and Business Analytics, or Operations Management.
  • Students who enjoy problem solving, systems thinking, and improving real operational workflows will thrive in this role.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in multiple phases of the ERP implementation, including process discovery, system configuration, and operational rollout.
  • Learn how an ERP Dining Management System supports procurement, inventory, production planning, and financial operations.
  • Gain exposure to real-world enterprise software configuration and implementation.
  • Document and analyze current dining operational workflows and manual processes.
  • Assist in defining improved processes enabled by the new ERP system.
  • Create process flow diagrams for both current ("as-is") and future ("to-be") workflows.
  • Help build documentation and training materials for new operational procedures.
  • Learn the full procurement lifecycle, including requisitions, purchase orders, vendor ordering, receiving, inventory management, and invoicing.
  • Learn how the ERP system manages recipes, cycle menus, production planning, and Material Requirements Planning (MRP).
  • Assist with using MRP functionality to automatically generate purchasing recommendations and orders.
  • Assist with implementing Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) connections with major food vendors.
  • Help test and validate automated vendor ordering workflows.
  • Help configure ERP system components including items, vendors, recipes, inventory structures, and purchasing rules.
  • Participate in testing and validating system functionality.
