About The Position

We are currently seeking a Food Services/Youth Care Worker to join our residential team. The Food Services/Youth Care Worker will be responsible for assisting in following the posted menus, using the correct food, quantity, and recipes to prepare the meal(s), maintain all safety standards, food handling health standards, and all local, county, and state health requirements. Other duties include but are not limited to: Ensure cultural/religious appropriateness of menu items. All meals must be fully prepared ready for serving at specific mealtimes. Ensure that adequate amounts of food are properly and consistently prepared. Assist with proper and routine maintenance of equipment. Knowledge of all kitchen equipment will be necessary to properly disassemble, clean, and reassemble. Wash all dishes, trays, utensils, glasses, pots, and pans will be responsibility of all food service personnel. Document all meal counts. They must be accurate and reconciled with the edit check; collaborate with the Direct Care Supervisor to ensure that all residents and staff receive a meal. Other documentation required: daily production menu, time allocation sheets, temperature log, and others as assigned. Prevent accidents by focusing on details of the job; report any unsafe act of any safety violation to your Kitchen Supervisor; wear safety gloves when using/cleaning the meat slicer and/or while using a knife to cut any food. Maintain the food service areas in a manner that will receive the highest grade or points from any inspecting agency. Consult with Kitchen Supervisor about the end of the month inventory preparations. Account for all products. It is critical to meeting the menu invoices. Keep copies of all invoices. Drive a vehicle when necessary. As needed, and at the discretion of Trinity Youth Services, this position can be assigned as a Rover/Youth Care Worker position within the ORR program.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Must meet State of California Health Standards for Food Handlers.
  • Maintain a current county food handler’s certificate.
  • Successfully complete an HACCP course.
  • Three years or more of extensive food service experience/training.
  • Working knowledge of kitchen appliances.
  • Interest in working directly with youth in accordance with California Administrative Code, Title 22.
  • Must communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing in English.
  • Must be 21 years of age or older.
  • Able to pass a physical examination.
  • Able to pass a drug clearance.
  • Able to pass a criminal background check.
  • Able to pass a Child Abuse Index check.
  • Must possess a valid California driver’s license with clean DMV history.
  • Ability to safely operate a motor vehicle.
  • Must be insurable by Trinity’s insurance carrier.

Nice To Haves

  • Bilingual preferred (Spanish).
