About The Position

The Food Service Worker is a non-security position that works under direct supervision and performs a variety of tasks related to preparing and serving food and beverages. Duties include food preparation, sanitation and cleaning, serving meals, assisting with inventory and deliveries, maintaining food-service documentation, and supporting the orientation and direction of staff and resident workers.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent certification.
Ability to communicate verbally and in writing to maintain records and files and prepare simple reports.

Nice To Haves

One year of food production experience in a commercial, military, or institutional setting.
Experience in corrections or detainee management.
Prior correctional food-service training.

Responsibilities

Wash, peel, scrape, and cut vegetables and fruits; prepare simple salads; slice cakes and pies; and make coffee, tea, and other beverages.
Dish out food portions onto trays or plates and pour beverages.
Scrape, wash, and sort dishes, glassware, and silverware; clean kitchen equipment, pots and pans, counters, and tables; and sweep and mop floors.
Assist management with simple inventory counts and information needed to place food and supply orders.
Receive deliveries and take inventory.
Prepare required food-service documentation, including preparation and inventory pull sheets, production and service documentation, sanitation records, and meal delivery records.
Assist management with orientation and training for staff and resident workers.
Monitor and direct resident workers in tray preparation, cleanup, sanitation, and other food-service duties.
Perform other duties as assigned.
