About The Position

Chartwells K12 is hiring a part-time Food Service Worker at Rochester Community Schools in Rochester, Michigan. The worker prepares, presents, and serves food as needed, following food safety, sanitation, service, quality, and portion-control standards. No experience is required, and the employer is willing to train. The schedule follows the district calendar; work days may vary, with shifts typically from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. or 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. No weekends or evenings are required. The fixed pay rate is $16.00 per hour. Because the role is in an educational facility, work may be paused during periods such as winter or summer breaks, with those periods unpaid and considered a temporary layoff. Depending on business needs, year-round work may be required, potentially at another location during breaks.

Requirements

Responsibilities

• Prepare food, including washing, peeling, cutting, and seeding fruits and vegetables.
• Weigh and measure designated ingredients.
• Carry pans, kettles, and trays of food between work stations, stoves, and refrigerators in accordance with safety standards.
• Store food in designated areas using wrapping, dating, food safety, and rotation procedures.
• Clean work areas, equipment, and utensils.
• Distribute supplies, utensils, and portable equipment.
• Follow approved recipes and production standards to ensure quality, serving temperatures, and portion control.
• Serve customers in a friendly and efficient manner, following outlined steps of service.
• Resolve customer concerns and relay relevant information to a supervisor.
• Follow company service standards and inventory and cash-control procedures.
• Comply with sanitation and safety requirements.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
