Food Service Worker 1 - South Mountain Restoration Center
About The Position
This position supports the food service operation by preparing, assembling, and delivering meals in a clean and safe environment. You help organize supplies, portion foods, and maintain sanitary conditions throughout the day. As a Food Service Worker 1, you will perform the following duties: Food Storage: Store food items and supplies in designated areas such as refrigerators and closets Meal Preparation: Portion foods, prepare snacks, and assist with basic food tasks like opening cans and making sandwiches Tray Assembly: Set up tray lines, arrange required items, and assemble meal trays based on menus and tags Sanitation Work: Clean and sanitize equipment, utensils, and food service areas to maintain safe conditions Waste Handling: Dispose of trash and soiled linens in proper receptacles Transport Duties: Move food, supplies, and tray trucks between buildings as needed.

- Work experience with food safety and sanitation in a dietary department or food service operation
- Experience in cleaning, washing, peeling, slicing, and dicing vegetables
- Experience using kitchen equipment such as vertical cutter mixer (VCM), food processor, table top chopper, and a garbage disposal
- Experience chopping, dicing, and slicing meats, poultry, fish, and cheeses
- Experience grilling, steaming, and heating simple foods such as eggs, sandwiches, and hamburgers
- Experience preparing sandwiches, assembling salads, and serving portions, including desserts
- Experience preparing and serving hot or cold beverages
- Experience cleaning and sanitizing equipment, utensils, dishes, pots, pans, work surfaces, and other kitchen items
- Experience assisting in loading and unloading food delivery trucks
- Experience transporting food and supplies to and from freezers, refrigerators, and storeroom
