Are you seeking a role where your expertise in automotive repair supports an important mission as an Automotive Mechanic with the Department of Human Services? This job gives you the opportunity to work on a wide range of vehicles and equipment at South Mountain Restoration Center. You make sure critical systems stay functional and ready for use. Your skill and dedication help maintain a dependable fleet that serves staff and residents every day. This position focuses on maintaining and repairing vehicles and power equipment to ensure safe and reliable operation throughout the facility.

Requirements

  • Four years of experience in the automotive mechanic trade; or Completion of an approved apprenticeship; or Any combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledges, skills, and abilities.
  • Possess a current and valid Pennsylvania driver’s license.
  • Possession of a valid Class 1 Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Certified Inspection Mechanic certificate or equivalent that allows inspection for Class 1 vehicles.
  • Meet the PA residency requirement.
  • Able to perform essential job functions.

Responsibilities

  • Perform major and minor repairs on cars, trucks, and related equipment
  • Maintain a valid inspection license and check vehicles for compliance with inspection standards
  • Repair transmissions, brakes, clutches, and other automotive components
  • Overhaul vehicles, generators, and compressors as needed
  • Maintain accurate service records for each vehicle
  • Respond to urgent equipment needs, especially during winter weather
