About The Position

The Oregon Department of Corrections is seeking a strong and experienced leader to serve as the Food Service Manager at Columbia River Correctional Institution (CRCI). In this role you will be responsible for directing and managing the food services program to ensure high-quality, efficient service while operating within established budgetary constraints. You will provide direct supervision over all assigned food service staff, including assigning work, monitoring performance, and supporting training and development. You will oversee day-to-day food service operations, ensure compliance with applicable food safety, sanitation, and agency requirements, and coordinate staffing and workflow to meet operational needs. You are responsible for authorizing and monitoring all program-related purchases, managing inventory and expenditures, and ensuring resources are used effectively to support consistent and reliable food service delivery while aligning with operational and fiscal goals. This position is management services and may be eligible for Police & Fire (P&F) benefits through Public Employees Retirement System (PERS), as defined by statute.

Requirements

  • Five (5) years of lead work, supervision, or progressively related experience; OR two (2) years of related experience and a bachelor’s degree in a related field.
  • Experience managing food service operations in a large-scale or institutional setting.
  • Experience with budgeting, purchasing, and inventory control.
  • Knowledge of food safety, sanitation, and regulatory requirements.
  • Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Must pass a Criminal Justice Information Systems (CJIS) fingerprint-based background check and maintain CJIS eligibility.
  • Must complete an I-9 and confirm authorization to work in the United States within three days of hire.

  • Handling Adults in Custody incidents in the immediate work area.
  • Preventing escapes from confinement by proper control of keys, tools, equipment, and contraband.
  • Documenting occurring unusual incidents.
  • Responding to call back to the prison in the event of an emergency or work stoppage.
  • Being subject to assignment in any position in the institution.
