About The Position

The Food Service Worker 1 is a temporary position from April 26, 2026, to October 2, 2026. This role involves performing a variety of duties related to food services and catering, including aiding in the overall cleanliness and sanitation of the kitchen area. The worker is responsible for maintaining proper food handling, sanitation, and safety standards, and for transporting food and equipment to various sites around the campus. Other duties may be assigned as needed.

Requirements

  • Knowledge and understanding of food safety regulations
  • Able to move with agility to transport equipment
  • Maintain hand and finger dexterity to perform basic maintenance tasks
  • Follow general safety protocols
  • Able to work professionally with colleagues in a manner that generates mutual respect and a positive working environment
  • Able to work with limited supervision
  • Able to relate and communicate positively, effectively, and professionally with others
  • Able to work calmly and respond courteously when under pressure

  • Able to perform basic math functions (e.g., add, subtract, multiply and divide)

  • Hear sufficiently for general conversation in person and on the telephone, and identify and distinguish various sounds associated with the workplace
  • See adequately to read computer screens, and written documents necessary to the position
  • Valid Driver's License required at time of hire
  • Food Handlers Certificate from the San Bernardino County Department of Environmental Health required within 14 days of hire date and renewed every 3 years

Nice To Haves

  • High School diploma or GED
  • Minimum one year of food service experience
