About The Position

The Food Service Associate prepares and serves food for Nutrition & Food Service facilities, including patient meals, snacks, tube feedings, cold foods, beverages, and cafeteria items. The role includes assembling patient trays, stocking and sanitizing floor kitchenettes, delivering meals to patient floors and Cape Psych Center, and collecting trays. The associate also serves cafeteria areas, including grill and cashiering, and works in the dish room to clean and sanitize kitchen equipment and facility areas. All duties must comply with hospital, local, and regulatory standards. The associate is expected to provide service consistent with Cape Cod Hospital’s CARES commitment: compassion, accountability, respect, excellence, and service.

Requirements

Ability to communicate in English well enough to understand and respond to basic verbal and written instructions.
Ability to operate cash registers and make change.

Responsibilities

Slice meats and cheeses and prepare and assemble foods such as fruits, vegetables, salads, nourishments, tube feedings, gelatins, sandwiches, and juices.
Prepare coffee and other hot and cold beverages.
Serve patient meals and between-meal snacks, and assemble patient trays.
Stock and sanitize floor kitchenettes.
Deliver patient meals and collect patient trays from patient floors.
Deliver and pick up patient meal trays for Cape Psych Center.
Serve cafeteria areas, including grill and cashiering.
Operate cash registers and make change.
Wash, rinse, and sanitize pots, pans, equipment, floors, walls, and storage areas.
Remove trash, garbage, cardboard, milk crates, and bread crates.
Perform duties in compliance with hospital, local, and regulatory standards.
Provide service excellence to patients, family members, visitors, volunteers, and coworkers in keeping with the hospital’s CARES commitment.
Perform other work-related duties and activities as assigned or requested.
