Food Server, Washing Potato - On Call
About The Position
As a Food Server at a luxury resort and casino, you will help provide exceptional dining experiences by delivering attentive service, demonstrating menu expertise, and creating a welcoming atmosphere. The role includes greeting and seating guests, taking orders, making food and beverage recommendations, coordinating with kitchen staff, serving beverages responsibly, maintaining dining areas and table settings, checking guest satisfaction, resolving concerns, and processing payments. You will collaborate with kitchen staff, bartenders, and fellow servers, and assist colleagues during busy periods. Duties may be added or modified as necessary. This position has no supervisory responsibilities. Candidates must be at least 21 years old and able to qualify for licenses and permits required by applicable regulations. The work environment is usually moderately noisy and may include unrestricted secondhand tobacco smoke. Compensation is $17.91 per hour.
Requirements
- Must be at least 21 years of age.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Knowledge of wine and beverage service.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and a friendly, engaging demeanor.
- Strong attention to detail, time management, and multitasking abilities in a fast-paced environment.
- Professional appearance and grooming in accordance with the resort's image, dress code, and service standards.
- Basic math skills for accurate order taking and billing.

- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks and guest interactions during busy periods.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift trays with food and beverages.
- Familiarity with food safety regulations and best practices.
- Willingness and ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights, holidays, and weekends.
- Ability to qualify for licenses and permits required by federal, state, and local regulations.
- Ability to read and communicate verbally in English, including interpreting safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals; written English communication may also be required.
- Ability to apply commonsense understanding to written, oral, or diagram-based instructions and address problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
- Ability to meet the physical demands of the role, including standing; handling objects, tools, or controls; reaching; talking and hearing; and lifting, moving, pushing, pulling, bending, twisting, stooping, stacking, crouching, kneeling, and balancing.

Responsibilities
- Welcome guests, escort them to their tables, and create a positive first impression.
- Take orders accurately and efficiently, provide attentive service, and respond promptly to guest requests and questions.
- Understand menu ingredients, preparation methods, and daily specials to help guests make informed choices.
- Recommend beverages, appetizers, main courses, and desserts.
- Coordinate with kitchen staff to support timely meal preparation and delivery and appropriate service pacing.
- Communicate guest requests, allergies, and dietary restrictions to the kitchen team.
- Present alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages with attention to quality and presentation, follow responsible alcohol service guidelines, and verify guests' legal drinking age.
- Keep tables, chairs, and dining areas clean and organized; clear used dishes, glassware, and utensils.
- Set tables with appropriate silverware, glassware, and linens according to established standards.
- Check guest satisfaction and address concerns or requests promptly and professionally.
- Resolve guest issues or complaints, escalating matters when necessary.
- Present bills accurately, handle payment transactions securely, and provide good customer service during payment.
- Work with kitchen staff, bartenders, and fellow servers to provide seamless service.
- Assist colleagues during peak periods and support team members as needed.
