About The Position

National Beef is seeking college students interested in a career in Food Safety and Technical Services Management for a paid summer internship in 2027. The 10–12-week program offers hands-on experience with the company’s laboratory processes, production-facility operations, and company culture. Interns will work collaboratively with the Technical Services and Operations Teams and have opportunities to network with facility senior leadership. The internship is in person at National Beef facilities in Liberal and Dodge City, Kansas. A housing allowance is included where required.

The intern will prepare detailed weekly reports for the Corporate Director of Technical Services and the facility Laboratory Manager, summarizing insights and experiences from the preceding week. At the end of the summer, the intern will present what they learned to the Senior Technical Services Team and key department heads.

Requirements

• Be enrolled in an accredited college degree program and have completed at least two years of study in Animal Science, Ag Business, Microbiology/Chemistry, or a related field.
• Be classified as a junior for the 2024–2025 academic year.
• Have a minimum 3.0 GPA in core curriculum classes.
• Demonstrate leadership abilities and on-campus involvement.
• Have strong analytical and critical-thinking skills.
• Be able to work independently and be self-directed on project work.
• Be proficient with Microsoft Office products.
• Be available to work 40 or more hours per week, including some weekends, on-site for the duration of the internship.
• Be at least 18 years old.
• Be authorized to work for any employer in the United States; visa sponsorship is not available.

Responsibilities

• Work collaboratively with the Technical Services and Operations Teams.

• Deliver a final presentation about internship learning to the Senior Technical Services Team and key department heads.
