We are currently seeking a Full Time Food Prep Cook to work the AM shift. In this position, the Prep Cook will provide routine food preparation and customer assistance services throughout the kitchen. Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Ability to work the AM shift
  • Food Handler certification OR Sanitation certification + BASSET certification
  • Previous commercial or institutional kitchen prep experience of 1 year
  • Knowledge of food handling and hygiene codes and standards.
  • Ability to convert recipes
  • Maintain/renew Food Handler and BASSET certification as required.
  • Must be able to work as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must project a positive image of KBH through words, actions, and appearance.
  • Must be able to effectively communicate written and verbally with all residents, their families, and staff.
  • Prolonged periods of standing and working in heat, steam, and cold.
  • Must be able to lift 25 pounds at times.
  • Manual dexterity to cut and chop food and perform other related tasks.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare food and food ingredients as directed by the culinary supervisor, cooks, or other culinary staff.
  • Prepare fresh produce by peeling, cutting, slicing, dicing, and portioning.
  • Prepare raw and cooked meats by trimming, cutting, and portioning.
  • Prepare simple dishes such as breads, desserts, or salads by following standardized recipes.
  • Promote proper sanitation practices when handling raw and cooked food items.
  • Prepare foods and food items for all meal periods, including employee staff meals.
  • Mixes or prepares condiments, dressings, and sauces.
