About The Position

This is a limited-term employment opportunity. The Food Pantry Driver/Resource Specialist is responsible for safely operating a UMOS truck or van to pick up and transport donations, performing daily vehicle checks, and maintaining accurate logs. The role involves arranging for and picking up resources, loading and unloading food using safe lifting methods and equipment, weighing and sorting donations, and ensuring food safety guidelines are followed. The specialist will interact professionally with various stakeholders, prepare food baskets, complete client intakes, distribute items, assist with raffles, and maintain inventory and cleanliness of pantry areas. Attendance at related meetings and other duties as assigned are also part of the role.

Requirements

High School Diploma or equivalent.
Minimum two years of experience in truck driving or related field.
Ability to work with confidential information and documentation.
Must possess awareness, knowledge, and sensitivity to socioeconomic and culturally diverse backgrounds of the target populations served.
Ability to work diplomatically with difficult people and diffuse angry customers quickly and effectively.
Ability to work irregularly non-traditional hours as needed.
Must have reliable transportation.
Possess a valid Wisconsin Driver’s License.
Maintain adequate car insurance.

Responsibilities

Safely operate UMOS truck (Class 3) or van to pick up and transport donations on a daily schedule.
Perform daily safety and maintenance checks on the vehicle, report any issues to a supervisor, and keep the vehicle clean.
Maintain accurate trip logs, vehicle service logs, and other required documentation.
Arrange for and pick up food, non-food, and other resources as needed.
Load and unload food using proper safe lifting methods, potentially carrying heavy boxes and using equipment like pallet jacks and forklifts (with proper certification).
Weigh all donations, sort them and put them away at their designated area.
Ensure food is transported and handled according to food safety guidelines.
Interact professionally with donors, resource agencies, stores, community agencies, CSBG program staff, and other UMOS programs.
Prepare food baskets according to family size guidelines.
Complete client intakes and distribute food and non-food items.
Assist with raffles.
Maintain and organize inventory, keep storage area stocked and clean.
Perform daily maintenance and cleaning of all pantry areas, including fridge, floors, and garbage disposal.
Attend related meetings, workshops, and conferences as directed.
Perform other duties as assigned.
