About The Position

This is a limited-term employment opportunity for a Food Pantry Driver/Resource Specialist. The role involves operating a UMOS truck or van to transport donations, performing vehicle checks, maintaining logs, picking up and delivering resources, loading and unloading food, sorting and storing donations, ensuring food safety, interacting with various stakeholders, preparing food baskets, completing client intakes, assisting with raffles, and maintaining inventory and pantry cleanliness. The position also requires attending meetings and performing other assigned duties.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum two years of experience in truck driving or related field.
  • Ability to work with confidential information and documentation.
  • Must possess awareness, knowledge, and sensitivity to socioeconomic and culturally diverse backgrounds of the target populations served.
  • Ability to work diplomatically with difficult people and diffuse angry customers quickly and effectively.
  • Ability to work irregularly non-traditional hours as needed.
  • Must have reliable transportation, possess a valid Wisconsin Drivers’s License and maintain adequate car insurance.
  • Successful completion of a criminal background and driver license check prior to starting.

Nice To Haves

  • Bilingual in English/Spanish verbal and written preferred.
  • Proper certification for pallet jacks and forklifts.

Responsibilities

  • Safely operate UMOS truck (Class 3) or van to pick up and transport donations on a daily schedule.
  • Perform daily safety and maintenance checks on the vehicle, report any issues to a supervisor, and keep the vehicle clean.
  • Maintain accurate trip logs, vehicle service logs, and other required documentation.
  • Arrange for and pick up food, non-food, and other resources as needed.
  • Load and unload food using proper safe lifting methods. This may involve carrying heavy boxes and using equipment such as pallet jacks and forklifts (with proper certification).
  • Weigh all donations, sort them and put them away at their designated area.
  • Ensure food is transported and handled according to food safety guidelines.
  • Interact professionally with donors, resource agencies, stores, community agencies, CSBG program staff, and other UMOS programs.
  • Prepare food baskets according to family size guidelines.
  • Complete client intakes distribute food and non-food items.
  • Assist with the raffles.
  • Maintain and organize inventory, keep storage area stocked and clean.
  • Daily maintenance cleaning of all pantry areas including fridge, floors and disposing of garbage.
  • Attend related meetings, workshops, conferences as directed.
  • Other duties as assigned.
