Floral Clerk- Newport Beach
About The Position
Gelson’s is hiring a Floral Clerk to support the daily operations of its floral department in Newport Beach. The role involves helping customers, receiving and preparing flowers and plants, maintaining product displays and department cleanliness, and processing customer transactions. The clerk must follow company procedures and health and safety requirements, and be flexible in taking on other duties as needed. The position includes physical work such as standing and walking for extended periods, lifting and carrying items up to 50 pounds, and working around equipment and temperature extremes.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
- Ability to lift and move heavy items and stand for extended periods.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Flexibility to work a varied schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Ability to meet the stated physical requirements, including lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds and standing, walking, and bending for up to 8 hours per day.
Nice To Haves
- Some prior experience in the floral industry.
- Previous experience in a grocery retail setting.
- Knowledge of merchandising techniques.
Responsibilities
- Assist shoppers with product questions, help locate items, and address customer concerns.
- Receive and unload plants and supplies from pallets, then store them in designated areas.
- Process plants and flowers, prepare supplies, and clean containers.
- Price flowers, plants, and arrangements; monitor promotions and ensure products are stocked and accurately priced.
- Assist with displaying floral arrangements according to merchandising practices.
- Water flowers and plants and keep the floral department clean and presentable.
- Comply with company policies, procedures, and health and safety regulations.
- Follow safety and sanitation guidelines to maintain a clean and safe working environment.
- Adapt to new challenges, work flexibly as part of a team, and take on responsibilities as needed.
- Operate cash registers and handle customer transactions accurately.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as required.
